                                              Goals Toward Quality Child Care

In an effort to promote quality child care, LCHDCN has compiled data from several sources to form a set of goals for quality child care. It is our hope that this information will help us all strive to reach individual excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO OUR CHILDREN

To recognize that all children are unique and display individual temperments

Take time to bond and develop trust with each child in our care

To base our programs on current knowledge of child development

Maintain a safe, clean and stimulating enviroment

Treat each child with respect by using positive, loving discipline and always keep children free from harm

To recognize the critical need for consistency of care

To make every effort to be committed to the well being of the children before considering termination

To expose children to a variety of activities that will help foster their growth socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically

RESPONSIBILITIES TO OUR FAMILIES

To develop a relationship of mutual trust

Inform families of program philosophy. policies and personal qualifications

To respect each family's child rearing values and their right to make decisions for their children

Offer suggestions to help improve their understanding of children and enhance their skills as parents

Respect the dignity of each families' culture, customs and beliefs

Maintain confidentiality and respect the families' rights to privacy

RESPONSIBILITIES TO PROVIDERS

Establish and maintain relationships of trust and cooperation

To share resources and information with one another

When a concern arises about the professionalism of another provider, we shall first let the person know of our concern and attempt to resolve the matter in a supportive way

RESPONSIBILITIES TO OURSELVES

To become knowledgeable about child development and what is appropriate for each age we serve

Be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from suggestions of others

Attend conferences and general network meetings to continue to expand our minds and develop our skills

Take care of our health and well being by taking time off to spend with our own families in order to prevent burnout

Become familiar with the laws and regulations that serve to protect the children and ourselves
